Nice Words From Our Awesome Clients
I started training with Mark following abdominal surgery as a way of getting myself back into exercise following my recovery. He started me out on a rehab program to get me back into the swing of things, was extremely supportive and encouraging, and tailored every exercise to suit my recovery and fitness loss due to the surgery. |
Last year I had a really rough year My dad passed away my daughter went to live in Australia and I had been really ill some kind of lung virus I'd been off work for 7 months and couldn't really walk longer than a few minutes I'd put on weight I suppose I was a bit depressed |

I am in my mid 40’s and used to do 3 – 4 Zumba sessions per week for 1hr each per week as well as use the boring machinery in my local gym for 40 minutes cardio sessions 3 times a week.I also had fitness trainer provided at the gym once a month to change my routine.
Other personal trainers I had during the last 15 years insisted in order to lose the weight I would need to eat smoothies and seeds for the rest of my life to shift the weight.
I had always eaten what I thought was healthily and watched my weight by using a worldwide weight loss company, who also sell their own products. The result of all of this together was I was always hungry, I had excruciating pains in my knees, and stayed at a weight I was not comfortable with.
I had to give up Zumba because of the pain and could no longer go to the gym.
Fed up and bored of doing nothing I advertised on Facebook for an instructor whom actually knew what they were doing I was recommended to Mark.
On our first meeting we discussed my diet, he gave me an eating plan, and then we trained for the first time for just 30 mins. “Is that it I asked”. I already had dumbells at home and was able to do the routine an extra twice a week. (he recommended no exercise more than 3 times per week)
The result after 6 weeks, having long lost those extra pounds, I had a lean body, without wobbly bits, I was eating more than I had ever eaten in my life, no pain and more time on my hands.
Mark not only strengthens every muscle in your body, but he helps you to understand food and how it works in relation to your body.
It’s a year in January, since I first went to Mark, I still only train once a week with him for 30 mins and twice more during the week at home with a pair of dumbells. Every week my routine is different.I still eat the Mark way, I look fit, apparently ten years younger than my age, I am never unwell, I eat like a horse and I am pain free.

Although I was not new to working out with a personal trainer, I was looking for an expert who would not only help me achieve my fitness goals, but would carefully document my progress during each session, and I certainly found that in Mark Burgess .Although there are many trainers in London , many don’t seem very well – organized, and so in lieu of written notations must make guesses on new exercises or weight increments to push their clients, which only wasted everyone’s time and impedes their progress. Mark’s notes on each client are so extensive that he can give specifics on various performance metrics for each session, which is great for those who want to compete against themselves to achieve gains in strength and overall fitness. Mark is also an expert in the super slow method , which is superb for those who want a full –body workout in the least amount of time , helps avoid injuries and builds the slow fiber muscles often ignored by traditional strength training regimens. Finally, don’t mistake Mark’s personable and laid-back personality for a pushover, he will drive you as hard as a Marine drill sergeant but will smile throughout the progress, making you want to make him as proud as you are as you see a new body emerge and fitness improves. If you are looking for a supportive way to achieve your fitness goals and stick with it for the rest of your life, I’d highly recommend training with Mark Burgess

I have been going to various fitness classes for many years and have always been disheartened by the lack of improvement in my weight or muscle tone.
I recently decided to take the plunge and use Mark as my personal trainer, and I am pleased I did.
Mark’s sessions are never dull, and are always varied and just sufficiently difficult to feel the benefit. He works very closely with you to develop and concentrate on the areas that you want to improve. He has helped me develop my stamina, strength and balance.
Mark is very patient and pushes me so that I feel the benefit of each session. He has shown me better techniques and helped me focus on my core. We use simple light/medium weights, kettle bells, gym ball and body bars. He also has a good knowledge of food technology and is very passionate about it, so is always on hand to offer advice on dietary requirements and healthy eating.

Mark is a wonderful personal trainer, as he pushes you farther then you realise you can go, but in an encouraging way! His sessions may only be 30 minutes but they are well worth it for the way it leaves you feeling energised throughout the day. They are different each time but the moves will be achievable as Mark will individualize them so you can cope. He does listen when you've had a bad day he encourages you to take it out in the session and if you're feeling energetic he pushes the workout more, but not leaving you feeling so tired you can't find any energy for the rest of the day. All in all one of the best around! You won't be losing anything in training with Mark but you will be gaining a well being you may not have felt before.

I first decided to join Mark for PT a few months ago, and i have never looked back...
I had joined the gym a few months before because i wanted to feel fitter and better about myself, and to lose some weight. I had fantastic support when i joined the gym and my workouts were re-vamped a few times, but i got to the point where i wasn’t feeling challenged enough. So i went and spoke to Mark, and started training with him. It seemed a natural transition.
It is challenging, but it should be. No point in going otherwise. You get a thorough workout, which is never the same twice, so no chance of boredom kicking in, and no chance of plateauing due to the versatility that this training offers. I like the fact that he uses names that you can relate to for all of the different excercises, which also injects more than a little bit of humour in to your PT session.
Mark is very patient and understanding of your needs and abilities, he helps you to bring out the best in yourself and build on any areas where you struggle.
This doesn’t just include the training, it’s the nutritional advice and support that you also get. And it’s without being condescending or being preached at. It is all sound, manageable advice, personalised for YOU. And not about starving yourself or going on some ridiculous unsustainable “diet”. I am a VERY fussy eater, and Mark has found many solutions for me.
If i can do this, anyone can, doesn’t matter what your level of fitness is, there really is an option for everyone. I have lost weight, which in turn has bought my blood pressure down, as i was having problems with that, and i feel better than i have in a long time.
Just pop in and see Mark or give him a call, you won’t regret it. It will probably be one of the best things you can do for your well being.
